WHA is an agile studio of 2 principals with a depth of knowledge and experience across all project scales, budgets and sectors.

We regularly partner with a wider team of interior designers, draftsmen, engineers, landscape designers, craftspeople and contractors. This collaborative team-working model allows us to focus our skills on the best design outcomes and tap into specialist expertise as required.

Our studio is professional yet informal and our architecture is responsive and informed.

We love the challenge of new and different briefs that are personal to you. Our approach is about you, we do not believe in standard repeated solutions. This philosophy shapes our work. Projects are always conducted as close and open collaborations with our clients to empower and deliver the best versions of their dreams... large or small, ambitious or modest.

We collaborate throughout the design process with contractors for both buildability input and to have early and regular costing exercises, critical to keeping budgets on track.

In studio we utilise the latest 3D digital design tools including a VR headset, a great tool for our clients to understand the spatial qualities of our designs from the outset. We also enjoy the more traditional tools...model making and paper sketches bring the creative process to life.

As a practice we have a commitment to create better, more comfortable homes and built environments. Our past experience working with European building standards and technologies is a huge benefit to our practice and to you.
Further to this, we are NZ Green Building Council members and with Anna's Homestar knowledge we can create detailed energy models of our designs helping us to deliver robust and energy efficient buildings.

Anna Webster

Anna has over 20 years experience as an architect, working at both major international practices and award-winning local studios. Anna established WHA in 2011 and enjoys building relationships with our clients, technical architectural challenges and creating beautiful buildings.

Tom Webster

Tom joined Anna at WHA in 2016 after a career spent in high profile practices including AHMM in London and most recently at Cheshire Architects in Auckland. Tom is also a qualified automotive designer and you may recognise him as the host of Grand Designs New Zealand.
